Bamboo jersey dress: Natural Life (Pürre)
Double vest: MOUTHvalley (thrifted, Japan)
Belt: Kimchi Blue (thrifted)
Jodhpurs as leggings: Ariat (thrifted)
Lace and bead necklace: Forever 21 (thrifted)
Boots: ALDO (thrifted)
The back of the vest is much shorter, so unfortunately it looks a little odd from behind. I managed to French braid my own hair though, to make up for it. :DThis dress was bamboozling me for a while because its asymmetric hem means the skirt almost always needs to be layered over leggings or a skirt, but its plain v-neck top is too thin to be worn on its own and needs to be layered under something. This means it cannot go under most dresses.
Oh, and it's a size L and billowy cut, so I need to cinch it somehow to avoid rocking that pregnant look again.
This dress is a keep, but not for the usual reason. I'd send it to one of you, but after I wore the outfit a few times, the dress, which was in brand new condition, started pilling all over, something I expect will just get worse. Gah stupid cheap jersey material. One of the worst types of fabric, I swear.
When it wears out it will probably be made into a pattern, and I'll alter the top to be easier to layer. And use a fabric that isn't so terrible!
I like how the waterfall layering turned out on this as well!
ReplyDeleteI really like how this whole outfit comes together--the drapey silhouette in the combination of neutral colors, highlighted with the silvery necklace. Definite winner--too bad the fabric isn't holding up its end of the bargain.
ReplyDeleteOooh! I think these layers turned out great. Sorry about the crappy fabric though. I hate finding something I really like or have the potential to like, but it's almost falling apart after a few wears.
ReplyDeleteI know! It was one of my very few retail purchases, and I got all excited about the Made In Country with Labour Laws tag. So much for quality. \=
DeleteReally beautiful layering effect, Aya. I too am intimately familiar with the Made In excitement followed by instant deflation by pilling! Aargh!
ReplyDeletePilling -- ugh. If you can, hand wash it and line dry to try to help reduce further pilling.
ReplyDeleteThe colors and floaty layers look great together, however. A+ on your layering assignment!
Thanks for linking up with 52 Pick-me-up.
This is very cool-looking, but boo on the pilling. It drives me nuts when stuff pills, which is why I am a total laundry Nazi. And then when it pills anyway, I just go plain deranged :(
ReplyDeleteYou have really good bling, BTW. F21's jumble sale displays rattle my cage and aggravate my OCD tendencies (see above) but their accessories are totes worth a little hair-pulling to get to that part of the store.
