My camera is crooked! Maybe these outfit pictures will look dramatic. :D
Cropped jacket: BIZZ USA (thrifted)
Shirt: BCBG (eBay)
Jewelry: Chatelaine pin (eBay), bracelet (Claire's, v.old)
Skirt: heyday (thrifted)
Coat: Via (thrifted)
Tights: MUJI USA (old)
Boots: Two Lips (thrifted)

This blue long-sleeved BCBG shirt has a cool draping detail around the waist and a hanging down panel. I tried tucking in the rest of the shirt and letting the hanging panel out. The extra ruched fabric around the waist adds girth, but I think the overall look was interesting.

I love blue and maroon together. In fact, I was a big fan of this whole outfit until I got out of my car and started walking to school. Then I discovered that my tights and my skirt had fallen in love on the ride over and they kept hugging. The skirt would bunch and ride up between my thighs with every step. It needs a slip. I put in a temporary fix by adding three long strips of duct tape in the front. Actually I wouldn't mind making it a permanent fix. Does duct tape stay on in the wash?

  Happy mid-week, everyone!

  1. I totally have the same problem with my skirt going in-between my legs as I walk so it looks like I'm wearing some weird culotte pants.

That brooch is fabulous as well at the detailing on the back of the jacket.

  2. Maybe the camera's crooked, but maybe the Leaning Apartment Block of California will become just as famous as that old broken-down building over in Pisa, Italy . . .

    1. Oh! You reminded me, the floor leading to my balcony *is* very visibly slanted. If you put a bookshelf up against that wall, it visibly tilts about 10 degrees...

  3. I like when you said my skirt and tights fell in love and kept hugging each other - Being french, i miss that english subtility when i write - I will have to remember that sentence -
If you don't have slip, wear another skirt underneat- I think Duc tape will remain after a wash, cheap tape resists to a wash - I had tape on one of my skirt, temporary hem, i put it in the wash, i noticed the tape when i was about to put the skirt in the dryer -

I love how you put clothes together - you are layering master!

    1. Ariane, you have nothing but my admiration for writing in your non-native tongue. If I tried to blog in Japanese or in French, I would not just miss subtlety, I would miss comprehension entirely. :D

  4. A gorgeous batch of colors! Oooh light blue and maroon/wine shades always make my heart sing.

My best advice is to wear a slip. Duct tape gets unfortunately sticky over time/in the wash. The glue tends to bleed out and ruin things.

    1. I think I have a slip shell from a scrap bin long ago sitting around here somewhere. Knew it would come in handy!

  5. Wonderfully lovely outfit! I'm a huge fan of blue and maroon/burgundy together, too. I have a 1940s crepe dress that I've been wearing with cranberry hued tights this fall like the colour combo was going out of style. :)

I wanted to pop by and say hello today, as we're both two of Ally's three Bloggy Award winners this year. It's absolutely beautiful to share this special honour with you, and I look forward to getting to know you and your fantastic blog better from here on out, dear Aya.

    Big hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

*PS* That elegantly gorgeous brooch is making me go weak in the knees! :)

    1. Thank you Jessica! I can't wait to get to know your blog, too. Ally finds the most interesting and awesome people to read. I am honored to be considered among her friends. :D

  6. I like crooked pictures. They give us a different take on reality. And, heaven knows, we need that!

  7. Fantastic outfits. I love your duct tape idea. And the last jacket is awesome. No, I rather think the world itself is sometimes crooked - it's so much more interesting that way.
