Couturgatory Half Anniversary and Giveaway!

Now that I have cleverly driven off people with my Sexy Unicorn face, I would like to announce Couturgatory's 6 month anniversary/100th post special celebration exclusive giveaway extravaganza! That's right, the fewer there are of you, the better your chances are of winning! I did this out of love.

The rules are simple: if you would like to win the Couturgatory SCEGE, leave a comment on this post, with a valid e-mail address. Might want to format it using [at] and (d0t) or whathaveyou to avoid spam bots. I will draw a winner via random number generator in one week- on Saturday, November 9th.

What will you be winning? These anatomically incorrect kidneysThis handmade Couturgatory orchid ornament! I've used the same wallpaper since Couturgatory started (and still not gotten around to fixing that sidebar with the 'follow' options) so I made an orchid in purple and white out of felt and batting. :D
And since the ornament turned out more questionable-looking than I had hoped, by way of apology you also win a thrifted item. Of your choice! That's right, if you win you can shoot me info about your desired item and, if relevant, your size, and I will keep my keen thrifting eye out for you in San Francisco until I find it.

You can be as specific as you like or leave it up to me! Examples include:
"a full grey skirt by [brand], size 10"
  "a pastel floral shirt"
  "a teacup and saucer"
  "unicorn"

While there are no guarantees, I thrift a few times a month, so your chances of getting something interesting are pretty good. :D

It feels like a lot longer than 6 months, but I realized I started this blog when I was the most continually stressed out I'd been in my life to date, and that probably warps my sense of time. It's been wonderful (the blogging part, not the stress.)  I love each and every one of your comments, AND I'm pleased to announce that I've finally gained enough weight to be back to my pre-scholastic freakout size. I can even jog a few miles again! Things are coming up Aya.

Thank you all so much for reading. I have met such wonderful new friends in the style blog community, and it turns out some of my pre-existing friends visit (I see you guys!) I have new awesome style and thrifting blogs I love to read, and I even get cards and beautiful things in the mail. I never imagined so many wonderful things would come about from me slapping some enthusiastic photos of my clothes onto the Internet and chattering away. My life is richer for having met all of you, and I cannot imagine my 2013 without you!

  1. Six months? No way! You've been around for years, haven't you? It certainly feels that way.

Seriously, when you arrived on the scene, you acted like an experienced blogger -- with wit, intelligence and beauty. Your sense of humor, friendly attitude and delightful insouciance all conspired to make you irresistible and quickly popular. We are lucky to have you as our friend!

    1. Aww, thank you so much Ally. You made my blog by launching me and featuring me from yours. I never forget it, and I love having you as one of my readers and friends.

I also had to look up 'insouciance' but until I did, I pretended that read 'in soy sauce' which is true as often as not.

  2. Okay so I've just found you…is it bad that I still want to enter the contest? LOL

Congrats on your 100th post! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better and am stoked about the possibility of you finding an item from San Fran.

  4. Congratulations on the 100th post, Aya! You have a unique style and I always enjoy reading your posts. If I win your giveaway I would be glad if you find an interesting looking brooch for me. I know you have an eye for such things :)

  5. Your sexy-unicorn post made me snort my coffee, and if that isn't a good reason to follow your blog, I don't know what is. Plus I like the way you write. And, not least, I also have wide forefeet and am tired of getting my toes squashed, so I'm making note of your footwear comments. I didn't know, for example, that Nayas ran wide--I'd dismissed them because I thought a C width would be too narrow. Thanks for your blog!

  6. Yay! Six months of Aya! Reading your blog has been a great spirit-lifter for me. I'm so glad you decided to do this whole blog thing, and that it's helped you through a stressful time in your life. You are a very fashionable and funny gal! (I'm working my way backwards to catch up on what I missed, so the anticipation for the sexy unicorn costume is only building... although I have already seen a glimpse of it on Ally's Halloween Party blog post.)

  7. Congrats on 6 months/100 posts! :) And who doesn't love a questionable-looking hand-crafted ornament? :)

  8. I haven't commented on your blog before since I can never think of anything useful to say, but I absolutely love your style! I too have a very limited budget and get almost all my clothes secondhand, either through hand-me-downs or thrifting. I've always been drawn to steampunk and Asian-ish styles too, although I'm trying to actually wear my interesting garments out of the house more. I also have short, very wide feet, so I feel your pain in that area as well. :) I think you are probably tied with Ephemera as my favorite fashion blog. All in all, I'd like to dress more the way you do!
